How to Operate a Bio Ethanol Fire Safely

With Bioethanol Fireplaces taking the UK by storm over the past few years, it’s not surprising that many of us are questioning if we are using our Bioethanol Fireplaces correctly and safely. Smart Bioethanol Fires bring a wealth of features such as WIFI connectivity so you can use your phone as the remote, self-filling fuel systems and smart home integration for Alexa and Google Home.

With Gas and Electric Fires once installed, adding fuel isn’t something you worry about as its all connected in the installation process. So, when it comes to the main difference between traditional fires and Smart Bioethanol Fires is the fact you must handle the fuel. This is a small price to pay considering the installation of Bio Ethanol Fireplaces are easier, cheaper and requires no additional chimneys, flu’s or ventilation like traditional fires, in fact, many of our customers self-install our Bioethanol Fires. We compose a short list below on how to ensure you are using your Bioethanol Fire in a safe manner.

Bioethanol Fireplaces and Bioethanol Burners will heat up during operation, how else would they provide the heat for your home? It may seem strange to have to say, but please don’t touch your Bioethanol Fire for at least 15 minutes after using to avoid the risk of any burns.

Do not pour your Bioethanol Fuel directly into the burning chamber under any circumstances. All the Bioethanol Fires we offer here at MyFirePits are Smart Ethanol Fires. This means that they have a built-in fuel tank which also warms the fuel temperature up to a safe level before filling the burning chamber. You never need to even come into contact with your fuel, all our Bioethanol Fires include self-filling systems where you simply attach a fuel pipe and press a button, from there the product will draw its own fuel.

Only use approved Bioethanol Fuel for your fireplace. Cheaper low quality fuels can have additional chemicals in and not be as green as they portray themselves to be. Only use a 98% minimum premium grade Bioethanol Fuel. The additional chemicals and fillers added to cheaper alternatives can make your Bioethanol Fire have a strange smell when burning as well not burning clean so additional cleaning too! The fuel is obviously flammable, so you should also never store the fuel in the same area as the fireplace.

The last one is a little more common sense than a tip, but our Bioethanol Fireplaces are not just decorative, they provide heat output too. This means you should never install your Bioethanol Fire within 40 inches of any flammable materiel’s and at least 80 inches from curtains or windows. With installation DO NOT burn under any overhanging objects such as TV’s, paintings or shelfs.

We hope you have found the above information helpful today, but as always, if you have any questions about your Bioethanol Fireplace, please feel free to contact our sales team. You can contact us on 0330 223 6223 Monday-Friday 9-5PM or alternatively email
